You can change your Client Area password from the "My Details" menu while logged in, or reset it from the login page if you've forgotten it. This is separate from your cPanel, DirectAdmin, email or WordPress passwords.

Change your password while logged in

Follow these steps if you know your current password and are already logged in to the Client Area.

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Click My Details on the menu bar.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. Enter your current password in the first box.
  5. Enter your new password in the second box.
  6. Re-enter the new password in the third box to confirm it.
  7. Click Save Changes.

You may need to log in again using your new password after saving the change.

Reset your password if you've forgotten it

If you don't know your current password, use the self-service reset option instead of trying to log in.

  1. Go to the Client Area login page at my.hostking.host.
  2. Click Forgotten Password.
  3. Enter the email address registered to your account.
  4. Answer your security question, if one is set up on your account.
  5. Check your email for a confirmation link and click it. This link is valid for two hours from the time you request it.
  6. On the password reset page, enter and confirm your new password.

If the link expires before you use it, the reset request is cancelled and your password stays the same. You'll need to request a new reset email and complete the process again within the two-hour window.

Troubleshooting

  • If no reset email arrives, check your spam or junk folder first.
  • Confirm that the email address you entered matches the one registered to your account. If it's out of date, contact Hostking via live chat or a support ticket so the email on file can be updated.
  • If you can't remember the answer to your security question, contact support so it can be removed from your account, allowing you to set a new one during the reset.
  • If you're logged in as a sub-user and don't see a "Change Password" option, or your account has no password set, contact Hostking via live chat or by opening a support ticket from the Client Area.

Client area password vs hosting control panel password

Your Client Area password is only for the billing and support portal at my.hostking.host. It does not change your cPanel or DirectAdmin password, your email account passwords, or your WordPress admin password — these are all managed separately.

Use a strong, unique password for each of these logins, and avoid reusing the same password across your Client Area, control panel and email accounts.

If you need further help, contact Hostking through live chat or by opening a support ticket from the Client Area.
