How to Reset Your DirectAdmin Password
If you've forgotten your DirectAdmin password or want to change it for security reasons, you can reset it easily through the Hostking client portal without needing to know your current password.
Method 1 — Reset via the Hostking Client Portal (Recommended)
Step 1 — Log into my.hostking.host with your Hostking email and password.
Step 2 — Click Services → My Services in the top menu.
Step 3 — Click on your active hosting plan.
Step 4 — Look for Change Password in the service management options.
Step 5 — Enter your new password and confirm it. Use a strong password — at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.
Step 6 — Click Save. Your DirectAdmin password is updated immediately.
You can now log into DirectAdmin using your username and the new password.
Method 2 — Change Password From Within DirectAdmin
If you're already logged in and just want to update your password:
Step 1 — Log into DirectAdmin.
Step 2 — Click your username in the top right corner.
Step 3 — Select Password & Security or Change Password.
Step 4 — Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
Step 5 — Click Save.
Forgot Your DirectAdmin Username Too?
Your DirectAdmin username is usually the same as your hosting account username — it's in your original welcome email from Hostking. If you can't find it, log into my.hostking.host and go to your hosting service details where the username is displayed.
Important Notes
- Your DirectAdmin password is separate from your Hostking client portal password — changing one does not change the other
- Your DirectAdmin password is also separate from your email account passwords — changing it does not affect email access
- After changing your DirectAdmin password, you will be logged out of any active DirectAdmin sessions and will need to log in again with the new password
